Kia Sedona EX 2002 is a great safe van with some issues needed to be aware of to prevent unexpected problems, feel comfortable, and last for 200,000 miles
The battery may discharge (be drained) while the engine is running at slow speeds with the A/C running during hot weather requiring a revised alternator, a battery heat shield and reprogramming of the ECM. (2002-03). One can also see how to change alternator
The check engine light has come on a couple of times only to reveal that the gas cap needs to be replaced.
The pro were when this car was hit head on, the air and safety devices that were deployed worked beautifully. My wife and daughter came out unscathed. The only bad part is my wife showed burns from the deployment of the airbag. But that's not a fault of the car. So the crash rating on the car is outstanding and is very dependable. The rating that the govt gives this van is true.
Kia now has a 5 year, 60,000 mile 'bumper to bumper' Warranty, and a 100,000 miles powertrain warranty, so if anything goes wrong with your Kia Sedona you are covered for quite some time.
